Beautiful Waterfall! "Nala Falls・Kayaking & Trekking”

A Tour into Unexplored Territories Recommended for Beginners!

We tour an unexplored waterfall accessible only by kayaking and trekking. After a kayaking trip of about 14 km round trip, we trek for 70 minutes round trip. Once we kayak through lush mangroves and jungle rivers, we finally reach the unexplored Nala Falls only after trekking through the jungle over streams. If the weather permits, we can play by entering the water basin and the arch of the waterfall. While the trip requires stamina, you can enjoy interesting parts of Iriomote Island to your heart’s content. This tour is recommended for families and couples. For those of you not confident about your stamina, we can prepare kayaks for 2 or 3 people for lovers and families to enjoy. Customers who are still yet worried can ride along with the guide for extra support, so that you can save your energy to fully enjoy the tour.

☆ Select from 2 types of kayaks: sea kayaks or river kayaks for more stability. Sea kayaks will be used unless specified in advance.

Feel the great outdoors all around you on Iriomote Island!! Let’s visit a secluded waterfall by kayak!!

Iriomote Island in Okinawa Prefecture is a subtropical island bursting with nature and mangrove forests. In Iriomote Island, its vastness offers us plenty of ways to experience nature. Kayaking tours are available to visit unexplored waterfalls. Here, we would like to introduce the appeal of checking out unexplored waterfalls by sea kayak.

【What is Iriomote Island like⁈】

In Iriomote Island, you can navigate only half of the island because the development of roads was suspended mid-way. The interior of the island is purely jungle. In certain villages, people even need to take a boat to reach their homes because their homes are located further ahead of where the road construction had been discontinued. This is why most of Iriomote Island rests alive with nature, with the majority of the island still largely undeveloped.

【Iriomote’s Unexplored: “”Ephemeral Nala Waterfall””!!】

• Why is the waterfall considered ephermeral? Iriomote’s “”Nala Falls”” is believe to be an “”Ephemeral Waterfall””. Because it is located deep in the heart of Iriomote Island’s jungle 120% secluded, it is impossible to reach the waterfall by foot, which is why the waterfall is described as mirage-like.

• How do we get there?!

To get to “”Nala Falls””, we paddle our sea kayaks through the mangrove forest. The paddle up Nakara River of about 7 km is exhilarating, full of adventure. Next comes the 14 km trek throughout a jungle, which we tackle in 35-minute segments. After all of the hard work, you will be blown away by Nala Falls, undeveloped and preserving its natural form since the beginning of time.

[Enjoying the Journey]
The mangrove forest stretching from the mouth of the river to its upper reaches. It is truly a sight to behold with its jungly ambience. Depending on the season, we can encounter creatures unique to the subtropical region of Iriomote Island, such as those living in tidal flats, like soldier crabs, fiddler crabs, or barred mudskippers, as will as seishika or sagaribana. We can enjoy observing the countless living creatures and nature along the way.

• How to Have Fun at “”Nala Falls””?!

Once we arrive at Nala Falls, we recommend playing in the deep water basin. Feel the water full of negative ions against your skin. Try floating in or getting hit by the waterfall. Why not try canon balling in, while you’re at it? There’s plenty more water activities you can enjoy. Cool down your body heated after all the kayaking, by playing to your heart’s content in the water.

A Summary of the Laid-Back Kayaking & Trekking Tour to Nala Falls

The real thrill of Iriomote Island’s Nala Falls is the vast scenery abundant in nature unfurling before your very own eyes. This unexplored waterfall radiates a different charm from your average famous waterfall, its beauty left untainted and protected. While difficult to reach and inaccessible by car, it is yet another appealing factor unique to unexplored waterfalls. For adventure lovers, this tour is sure to keep your heart racing with excitement.

Adventure! "Adanade Falls・Shower Trekking & Kayaking"

Trekking Mostly in Streams! Great Adventures Touring Unexplored Areas by Kayak!

The distance covered by kayak is half the distance of our tour to Nala Falls. We recommend this tour of this unexplored territory to women not confident about their upper body strength.

To get to Adanade Falls, first we travel as much as possible by kayak along Adanade River. Then comes the adventurous part, as we swim in the river, splash forth in streams, and sometimes even face small waterfalls head-on.

Only after pushing our way through Iriomote Island’s beautiful mountain streams, with our 5 sense on full alert, can we finally reach Adanade Falls.

Swim and jump into the water basin! This dynamic tour is perfect for families with young children full of energy. We prepare life jackets for those not very good at swimming, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of safety.
